How the writing on Healthy Habits Everyday gets made, what it will not do, and what happens when I get something wrong.

Who writes here

I do, all of it, under my own name. Nothing on this site is bought from a content mill, and there is no byline here belonging to a person who does not exist. If that ever changes it will be said on this page first.

The log comes first

A piece here starts with a dated record and is written from it, not from memory and not from a general sense of how it went. Where the log is thin, the piece says the log is thin. Where I kept the record badly, that goes in too, because a habit article that never admits to a missed fortnight is describing someone who does not exist.

How claims get handled

When I test a piece of received wisdom, I say what the claim is, where it came from if I can find out, what I did, how long for, and what the record showed. If the original claim rests on a study, I go and read what the study actually measured, since a surprising amount of habit advice is one small paper repeated until it sounds like consensus. Where I cannot trace a claim to anything, I say that rather than treating it as settled.

What one person’s log can and cannot support

It can support this did not work for me. It cannot support this does not work, and I try not to let the first quietly become the second between the opening and the conclusion. Nothing here is a controlled trial, there is no comparison group, and I am not blind to what I expect to find. That is a real limit and it belongs in the piece rather than in a footnote.

Not health advice

This is a site about repetition, not about health. I hold no medical, psychological or nutritional qualification of any kind. Pieces here will not tell you what to eat, how to sleep, how much to exercise, or what to do about a symptom, and where a habit touches any of those the piece points at a clinician instead. If something here ever reads like clinical advice, that is a drafting failure and I want to hear about it.

What is deliberately absent

No star ratings and no scores, since a number implies a precision one notebook cannot support. No invented product tables. No before and after photographs staged to imply a result. No prices quoted as fact, because they move and a stale price is a small lie. No transformation stories, and no counting of anyone’s body.

Money and independence

Some links earn a commission, set out in full in the affiliate disclosure. No company reads a piece before it goes up, no company pays for coverage or for a conclusion, and a commission has never decided whether something gets mentioned. Where the two would conflict, the piece keeps the sentence and loses the commission.

Updates and corrections

Every page shows when it was last updated. I revise a piece when a reader corrects me, and also when the log keeps running and starts to disagree with what I first wrote, which happens more than I expected. A revision of substance carries a note about what changed rather than being made silently. A reader who acted on the old version deserves to know it moved.
